Stew Barber

Stewart Clair Barber (June 14, 1939 – June 11, 2025) was an American professional football player who served as an offensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills of the American Football League. Barber was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, to Arthur Clair and Jeanne Stewart Barber. He attended Bradford High School, where he played tackle on the football team and was also reported to have played end for four years on both offense and defense. He played basketball as well and broke his father's high school shot put record.

Barber accepted a football scholarship from Penn State University, having also received full scholarship offers as a basketball player. With the Nittany Lions he played as a flanker and defensive end as a freshman and was a second-team end as a sophomore. He stood 6 feet 3 inches and weighed 220 pounds.

In the AFL, Barber was twice named first-team All-AFL and was chosen to play in five consecutive AFL All-Star Games. He was a member of two AFL championship teams with the Bills. After his playing career, he became an executive for the Bills in the National Football League. Barber died on June 11, 2025, three days before his eighty-sixth birthday.
