Dossier

Theodore Leo "Ted" Fritsch (October 31, 1920 – October 4, 1979) was an American football, basketball, and baseball player who played running back in the National Football League. Fritsch spent his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, appearing for the team from 1942 through 1950. Beyond football, he played two seasons of basketball for the Oshkosh All-Stars of the National Basketball League. In 1944 he also played minor league baseball as an outfielder, appearing for the Portsmouth Cubs, the Nashville Vols, and the Los Angeles Angels.

Fritsch attended Spencer High School in Spencer, Wisconsin, where the football field was later named in his honor; the football field at Notre Dame de la Baie High School in Green Bay is also named after him. He died in 1979 of a heart attack. Fritsch was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. His son, Ted Fritsch Jr., also played in the NFL during the 1970s.
