Ted Hendricks

Theodore Paul Hendricks, nicknamed "the Mad Stork" and "Kick 'Em in the head Ted," was a Guatemalan-American professional football linebacker who played 15 seasons in the National Football League. Born November 1, 1947, in Guatemala City to a Guatemalan-born mother of Italian descent and an American father—who had met while working for Pan American Airlines—he became the first Guatemalan-born player in the NFL. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Hialeah, Florida, and he was raised in Miami Springs. An honor student at Hialeah High School, Hendricks competed in basketball, baseball, track and field, and football, and was raised bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish.

He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes before entering the NFL, where he spent his career with the Baltimore Colts, the Green Bay Packers, and the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders. Over his 15 seasons he was a member of four Super Bowl-winning teams. Hendricks was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987 and to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
