Dossier

Edward Amos Irvine, born December 8, 1944, is a Canadian former professional hockey player who competed in the National Hockey League from 1964 to 1977. A left winger who wore jersey number 27, Irvine recorded 331 points in 774 games across a 15-year professional career. Over his time in the NHL he played for four clubs: the Boston Bruins, the Los Angeles Kings, the New York Rangers, and the St. Louis Blues. Earlier in his development he earned recognition in junior hockey, sharing the MJHL goal-scoring lead in 1963 and being named to the MJHL First All-Star Team in 1964.

Irvine is of Scottish ancestry and is married to Bonnie Davis. He is the father of Chris Irvine, a professional wrestler and musician better known by the ring name Chris Jericho. On November 27, 2019, Irvine appeared as a surprise guest on the professional wrestling program AEW Dynamite to celebrate Thanksgiving with his son. During the appearance, upon learning the show was being staged in Chicago, he taunted the crowd by citing the number of times the New York Rangers had defeated the Chicago Blackhawks.
