Ted McClain

Theodore "Ted" McClain (born August 30, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player who competed as a guard from 1971 to 1979. Standing 6'1" and weighing 180 pounds (82 kg), McClain played college basketball at Tennessee State University, where he was named Most Outstanding Player of the 1970 NCAA College Division tournament; Tennessee State lost the final to Philadelphia University.

McClain was selected in the second round of the 1971 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks and was also chosen by the Carolina Cougars in that year's ABA draft. He opted to sign with the Cougars and spent eight seasons across both the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. Over his career he played for the Carolina Cougars, Kentucky Colonels, New York Nets, Denver Nuggets, Buffalo Braves, Philadelphia 76ers, and Phoenix Suns.

McClain averaged 8.4 points and 3.4 assists per game over his career and appeared in the 1974 ABA All-Star Game. He holds the ABA record for steals in a single game with 12, set against the New York Nets on December 26, 1973.
