Terry O'Reilly

Terence Joseph James O'Reilly, born June 7, 1951, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who spent his National Hockey League career with the Boston Bruins and was one of the most effective enforcers in the game's history. Born to parents Audrey and Jim O'Reilly and of Irish ancestry, he grew up in Oshawa, Ontario, where he began playing hockey at a very young age. He started out as a goaltender until the age of 13.

As a junior, O'Reilly initially had difficulty sticking with the Oshawa Generals, and he turned down a scholarship offer from St. Louis University in order to keep playing for the team, a decision that worked in his favor. He played three years of junior hockey with the Generals from 1968 to 1971, posting his best season in 1970–71 with 23 goals and 42 assists.

In the NHL, O'Reilly played for the Boston Bruins and featured in three Stanley Cup Finals. He was known throughout his career for an erratic skating style and a tendency to buzz all over the ice. Away from the rink, he continued his education part time at the University of Toronto, the University of Ottawa, and Boston University.
