Thurman "Fum" McGraw (July 17, 1927 – September 13, 2000) was a football player who grew up in Garden City, Kansas and attended Paonia High School, where he earned letters in football, basketball, and baseball and won the Western Slope heavyweight boxing championship. Standing 6'5" and weighing 235 pounds, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II before enrolling at Colorado A&M — now Colorado State — in 1946. He went on to play in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. McGraw was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
