Tom Day

Thomas Frederick "Tippy" Day (1935–2000) played college football at North Carolina A&T State University, where he earned all-conference honors as a two-way lineman. Originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1960 as one of the AFL's inaugural picks, Day instead joined the NFL's St. Louis Cardinals before returning to Buffalo. He settled in as a starting defensive end and was part of a Bills defense that held opponents without a rushing touchdown for 17 consecutive games across the 1964 and 1965 seasons, during which Buffalo won back-to-back AFL Championships. Day earned AFL All-Star recognition in 1965. He was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1967.
