Tom Owens

Thomas William Owens, born June 28, 1949, is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'9" center from the Bronx, New York, he played for LaSalle Academy before attending the University of South Carolina, where he competed for the Gamecocks.

Owens turned professional in 1971, spending five seasons in the American Basketball Association from 1971 to 1976. During his ABA tenure he played for the Memphis Pros, Carolina Cougars, Spirits of St. Louis, Memphis Sounds, and Kentucky Colonels. He moved to the National Basketball Association in 1976 and played seven seasons there through 1983, suiting up for the Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Detroit Pistons.

Across his combined ABA and NBA career, Owens scored 9,898 points and grabbed 5,985 rebounds.
