Dossier

Anton "Toni" Fritsch (1945–2005) was an Austrian-born kicker who holds the distinction of being the first Austrian to play in the NFL. Before his American football career, Fritsch was a striker for Rapid Vienna, appearing in 123 matches and winning the Austrian Championship in 1964, 1967, and 1968. He earned the nickname "Wembley-Toni" after scoring twice in Austria's 3–2 victory over England at Wembley Stadium in October 1965. He is the only player in history to win professional titles in both association football and American football, adding a Super Bowl championship in 1972 to his three Austrian League titles.
