Tony Dorsett

Dossier
Anthony Drew Dorsett Sr. (born April 7, 1954) is an American former professional football running back who played in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. Raised in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, northwest of Pittsburgh, Dorsett attended Hopewell High School, where he played football and basketball. As a sophomore in 1970, he started at cornerback, his coaches having judged the 147-pound Dorsett too small to play running back.
He played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers, leading the team to the national championship as a senior in the 1976 season and winning the Heisman Trophy. The Dallas Cowboys selected him with the second overall pick in the first round of the 1977 NFL draft. Dorsett was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and won a Super Bowl in his rookie season, defeating the Denver Broncos. He played eleven seasons for Dallas through 1987, then spent his final season with the Broncos before retiring due to injuries.
Dorsett was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994 and the College Football Hall of Fame the same year.
