Tony Kubek

Anthony Christopher Kubek (born October 12, 1935) was a left-handed batter who spent his nine-year major league career with the New York Yankees, signing with the organization and moving quickly through their farm system before debuting at age 21 in 1957. He appeared in six World Series during the late 1950s and early 1960s, starting 37 games, and formed a top double-play combination with second baseman Bobby Richardson on an infield that also included third baseman Clete Boyer. A back injury ended his playing days after 1965. He went on to broadcast twelve World Series for NBC and received the Ford C. Frick Award in 2009.
