Topsy Hartsel

Topsy Hartsel, given name Tully Frederick (June 26, 1874 – October 14, 1944). He was born in Polk, Ohio and died in Toledo, Ohio. He stood 5 feet 5 inches and weighed 155 pounds. He batted and threw left-handed. He debuted in the majors in 1898 and played his last big-league season in 1911, a stretch of 14 seasons, primarily with the Philadelphia Athletics of the American League. His full professional career, including the minor leagues, ran from 1897 through 1914. His card presence in this catalog spans the E92 Croft's Candy issue of 1909-1910; the E92 Croft's Cocoa issue of 1909-1910; the E92 Dockman & Sons Gum issue of 1909-1910; the E92 Nadja Caramels issue of 1909-1910; the E97 Briggs Lozenges candy issue of 1909; and the T206 White Border tobacco issue, distributed by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911. He is interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio (Cremated).
