Ulf Sterner

Ulf Sterner (born 11 February 1941) is a Swedish ice hockey forward who competed across club and international hockey from the late 1950s through the early 1970s. He played for Forshaga IF, Västra Frölunda IF, Rögle BK, and Färjestads BK in Sweden, and finished his career with the London Lions in England in 1973–74. He represented Sweden in nine IIHF World Championships, earning seven medals including one gold, five silver, and one bronze, and was a member of the silver medal team at the 1964 Winter Olympics. On 27 January 1965, Sterner became the first European-trained player to appear in an NHL game, suiting up for the New York Rangers. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2001.
