Wally Chambers

Wallace Hashim Chambers (May 15, 1951 – September 22, 2019) was a defensive lineman who played in the NFL during the 1970s. Out of Eastern Kentucky University, where he led the team in tackles for three consecutive seasons and was named team MVP as a senior, Chambers was selected eighth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 1973 NFL Draft. He earned NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors following his first season and was named to the Pro Bowl three times (1973, 1975, 1976). He later played defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Eastern Kentucky retired his number 78 and inducted him into its Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
