Walter Tkaczuk

Dossier
Walter Tkaczuk was a Canadian ice hockey centre who played fourteen seasons for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League between 1967 and 1981. Born in West Germany on September 29, 1947, to a Ukrainian family that later settled in Timmins, Ontario, he was the first player born in Germany to appear in an NHL game. Tkaczuk centred the "Bulldog Line" alongside Bill Fairbairn and Steve Vickers and was regarded as one of the NHL's elite defensive forwards, excelling as a faceoff man and shadowing opponent forwards rather than scoring himself.
