Walter "Turk" Broda

Dossier
Walter "Turk" Broda (May 15, 1914 – October 17, 1972) was a Canadian goaltender who spent his entire NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1936 to 1951, interrupted by service in the Second World War from 1943 to 1946. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, Broda won his first Vezina Trophy in 1940–41 with a 2.00 goals-against average and earned NHL First All-Star Team honors that season and again in 1948, when he claimed his second Vezina. He backstopped the Maple Leafs to five Stanley Cup championships and became the first goaltender to record 300 career wins, reaching that milestone in 1950.
