Dossier

Wesley Cheek Ferrell (February 2, 1908 – December 9, 1976) was a right-handed starting pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1927 through 1941. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, he came from a baseball family — his brother Rick became a Hall of Fame catcher, and brother George spent 18 years in the minor leagues. Ferrell was signed by the Cleveland Indians after being spotted by scout Bill Rapp, and went on to pitch for six clubs: the Indians, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, New York Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Boston Braves.
