Wilt Chamberlain

Dossier
Wilton Norman Chamberlain (August 21, 1936 – October 12, 1999) was an American professional basketball player who played center in the National Basketball Association for 14 seasons. Standing 7 feet 1 inch tall, he compiled a record that, in the words of former teammate Billy Cunningham, made the NBA Guide read "like Wilt's personal diary."
Chamberlain holds 72 NBA records, including regular-season marks in scoring, rebounding, and durability; blocks were not counted during his career. He remains the only player to score 100 points in a single game. He once gathered 55 rebounds in a game and never fouled out across his career. He is the only player to average 30 points and 20 rebounds per game in a season, a feat he accomplished seven times. In one season he averaged 50 points and 48 minutes per game.
His honors include two NBA championships, four regular-season Most Valuable Player awards, and the Rookie of the Year award. He was elected to the NBA's 35th, 50th, and 75th anniversary teams.
Chamberlain was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978.
