Woody Sauldsberry

Woodrow Sauldsberry Jr. (July 11, 1934 – September 3, 2007) was a professional basketball player who competed in the NBA during the late 1950s and 1960s. Born in Winnsboro, Louisiana, and raised in Los Angeles, he attended Compton Union High School, where he was a two-time All-Conference selection and played on teams that won CIF championships in 1951 and 1952. He attended Texas Southern on a basketball scholarship. Sauldsberry earned NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 1958 and later won an NBA championship in 1966 as a member of the Boston Celtics.
