Zeke Bonura

Henry John "Zeke" Bonura (September 20, 1908 – March 9, 1987) was a right-handed first baseman who played seven seasons in Major League Baseball from 1934 through 1940. Born in New Orleans, he appeared in 917 games for the Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators, New York Giants, and Chicago Cubs, posting a career .307 batting average with 119 home runs, 704 RBI, and a .992 fielding percentage. Before his baseball career, Bonura demonstrated rare athleticism in track and field: in June 1925, at sixteen, he became the youngest male to win an event at the National AAU Track and Field Championships, throwing the javelin 213 feet 10 inches to set a meet record.
