Zeke Bratkowski

Edmund Raymond "Zeke" Bratkowski (October 20, 1931 – November 11, 2019) was an American professional football player who spent 14 seasons as a quarterback in the National Football League. Born and raised in Westville, Illinois, he played high school football at Schlarman Academy in Danville, graduating in 1949. His nickname dated to his boyhood, when he frequently wore a baseball jersey bearing the name of Major Leaguer Zeke Bonura.

Bratkowski played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, rising to national prominence as a sophomore in 1951 under head coach Wally Butts. He twice led the SEC in passing and, over his three-year career, completed 360 passes for 4,863 yards, earning All-American honors and recognition as one of the era's leading college quarterbacks.

In the NFL, he played for the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Green Bay Packers. After his playing days, Bratkowski remained in the game as an assistant coach for over two decades. He was the father of Bob Bratkowski, who later served as offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
