Robert John Valentine (born May 13, 1950) is an American former baseball player and manager. He played in Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, and Seattle Mariners between 1969 and 1979. A versatile infielder and outfielder, he appeared at every position except pitcher and batted .260 with 12 home runs over 639 career games. He later managed the Texas Rangers from 1985 to 1992, the New York Mets from 1996 to 2002, and the Boston Red Sox in 2012, as well as the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball.
