Clifford George Melton (January 3, 1912 – July 28, 1986) was an American left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the New York Giants over parts of eight seasons from 1937 to 1944. A native of Brevard, North Carolina, he had his best year as a rookie in 1937, posting a 20–9 record with a 2.61 earned run average and leading the National League with seven saves as the Giants won the pennant. He set a National League rookie record with 13 strikeouts in his major league debut, a mark that stood until 1954. He was named to the National League All-Star team in 1942. Over his career he compiled an 86–80 record in 272 appearances with a 3.42 ERA and 660 strikeouts.
