Charles Louis "Deacon" Phillippe (May 23, 1872 – March 30, 1952) was born in Rural Retreat, Virginia. His professional career ran from 1899 through 1911, placing him squarely in the nineteenth-century professional ranks, and he is most closely identified with the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NL. After his major-league days ended in 1911, he continued in professional ball through 1913. He was listed at 180 pounds. He batted and threw right-handed. For collectors, his most recognized appearance is in the iconic T206 White Border tobacco set issued 1909-11 by the American Tobacco Company.
