Frank Linzy

Frank Alfred Linzy (born September 15, 1940) is an American former Major League Baseball relief pitcher. He played for the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Philadelphia Phillies between 1963 and 1974. In his first full season in 1965 he posted a 9–3 record with 21 saves and a 1.43 earned run average over 57 games, finishing third in National League Rookie of the Year voting and thirteenth for Most Valuable Player. Used as a multi-inning "fireman" rather than a ninth-inning specialist, Linzy on April 27, 1969 became the first pitcher credited with two saves in a single day, recording one in each game of a doubleheader against the Houston Astros.
