Ken Reitz (1951–2021) was an American Major League Baseball third baseman who played 11 seasons from 1972 to 1982 for the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. Drafted by the Cardinals in the 31st round of the 1969 draft, he made his debut in September 1972. He won the Gold Glove Award in 1975 and was named an All-Star in 1980. Known for his defense, he led the National League in fielding percentage at third base a record six times and retired with the highest career fielding percentage among NL third basemen at .970. He was nicknamed "Zamboni" for his work fielding ground balls on the artificial turf at Busch Memorial Stadium.
