Tom Bettis (1933-2015) was an American football linebacker who played nine seasons in the National Football League. He played college football at Purdue, earning first-team All-American honors in 1954, and was selected fifth overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 1955 NFL draft. He spent seven seasons with the Packers from 1955 to 1961, moving to middle linebacker and serving as the defensive signal-caller during Vince Lombardi's first season in 1959. After a trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1962 and a final season with the Chicago Bears in 1963, he retired and became a longtime NFL assistant coach, including with the Kansas City Chiefs team that won Super Bowl IV.
