Vernon Sanders Law pitched sixteen seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1950–51, 1954–67), throwing and batting right-handed. A control pitcher, he consistently ranked among the top National League hurlers in fewest walks per nine innings. His signature season came in 1960, when he won the Cy Young Award — the first Pittsburgh pitcher to receive the honor — and earned a World Series ring with the Pirates.
