Walter Blair

Walter Allen Blair, known as "Heavy" (October 13, 1883 - August 20, 1948). He was a native of Landrus, Pennsylvania, listed in playing days at 6'0", 185 lbs. He batted right-handed and threw right-handed. His major-league career ran from 1907 through 1915, primarily with the New York Yankees of the American League. His broader professional ledger — including minor-league seasons — extends from 1903 through 1916. He also took the field as a major-league manager in 1915. On the cardboard side, his vintage presence is anchored to the T204 Ramly issue, which is where collectors of the period most commonly encounter him. He died on August 20, 1948 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He is interred at Lewisburg City Cemetery in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
